Highly Recommended for the baseball player who wants to play at a higher level. There are hundreds of books on the market about hitting, most of those books rely on the old-school mentality that us 40 and 50 something's were taught as kids and teenagers. This book mixes some of the old-school theory with a new fresher different philosophy that produces results. Mike's philosophy is "dare to be different". Not only is this an outstanding book but I can speak from experience. I've witnessed my own son drastically improve his approach at the plate and drive balls hard to all fields. Its funny but my kid went 0 for 3 the other day but every time up he hit the ball extremely hard and right on buttons - he'll take that every time because he knows they're not always going to be hit where they are. Great book. Simple quick read. Nice companion to the explosive hitting video series.
Absolutely the smartest and simplest advice that has ever been written about what really matters in the world of hitting a baseball. Easy to apply concepts and training that will transform a good hitter into a great hitter. And more importantly, if they follow the training steps and 9 keys to training a 100 MPH hitter they will get recognized by HS coaches, college coaches, and pro scouts. My son followed these steps and achieved 94MPH ball exit speed at the age of 15 as an average 5'8" 175 lb kid. I'm sure he will reach the 100MPH soon and all as a direct result of following these key principles. Utilizing the training keys(that the other reviewer couldn't seem to find) his exit speed allowed him to achieve one of his team's highest slug percent over a 3 year period in HS and those offensive stats carried over into his elite travel team as well. If you want to become a great hitter this is the hitters bible that will help you to get there.
Great book with great results. Coach Ryan does a perfect job of explaining how to generate more power. This book will help anyone to hit the ball harder and farther.
The book was just an overview on hitting. It never truly explained how to create a better hitter, only reviewed what not to do as a hitter. The only valve was about the mental approach a hitter should have at the plate.
Was a bait and switch to get you to buy the author's DVD's. I agree with the ball exit speed philosophy which the writer failed to adequately explain how a hitter with 100 mph ball exit speed is actually created. Sorry but hit more with that focus is inadequate. Think our author needs a class in business ethics.
Very informative. Not a ton of unique content (will depend on your current knowledge) but is solid in affirming what others are saying. I say where coaches and trainers overlap in opinion is the sweet spot for where to be with your training.
